Rottweiler Puppy Information

The First Eight Weeks

When our puppies go to their new homes they have many positive experiences behind them. Our whelping room is part of our home. When the puppies are born we spend our days and evenings watching them develop and helping mom with her responsibilities.

As they grow we expose them to different sounds such as the television, vacuume cleaner, radio, and the lawn mower (or snow blower depending on the season here in the northeast.)

Once they are on their feet the walk to the field and running through the woods is a cherished time in their short stay with us.

Crate training is started before being sent to their new homes. We encourage everyone to continue with the crate training. The crate is an area that the puppies have come to feel secure in, known as their "den" and also assists you in the potty training process.

Their nails are done once a week with a dremmal tool. They will be accustomed to the sound and feel of this on their nails before leaving.

The puppies are examined by my veterinarian, at which point they are given a complete physical exam as well as their first vaccine and worming.

Temperment tests are done at seven weeks. This gives us insight into their individual personalities and helps us make a proper match between puppy and owner. We will go over their temperment tests with you so that you may get to know your pup and what event he/she may enjoy. Some possibilities include agility,therapy work, herding,conformation showing and of course learning to be a wonderful family pet.

The puppies are evaluated as breeding stock or companion quality pets at the age of seven weeks. We evaluate them again at eight weeks. Therefore we do not know early on which puppy will be yours. After all has been taken into account we decide which puppy will be going to you. If we are able to give you a choice we will. If you come to visit and would like to preference a puppy you may. If this puppy matches your criteria we will be happy to accomodate you.
